Everest Base Camp trek is the most famous trekking route in the world and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable. Nepal is a fascinating country and the trek gives an insight into the lives and culture of the Sherpa people. Our ascent is steady and well paced to best suit the acclimatization needed. Sunrise on the snow capped peaks above the Khumbu Glacier is an unforgettable sight from the summit of Kala Patthar. This trek is one for the lover of high places and those wanting to push themselves to the limit. It is a tough challenge and not to be taken lightly with generally well graded paths but some tougher sections along the Khumbu glacier.
The superb trekking to the Base Camp of Mount Everest is recommended as one of the important sites to be visited before one dies. The Everest trekking is well-known because of the friendly Sherpa people, colorful festivals and the Buddhist monasteries. The region is known as Khumbu and has been bounded in the Sagarmatha National Park, the world heritage site. Sagarmatha is the Nepalese name of Mount Everest, the top of the world. Sherpas, the famous climbers are the dwellers of Khumbu region. Many expedition teams can be observed on this trail during April and May heading higher with an aim to be on the top of the world.
Day 01: Arrival in Katmandu and trip preparation - 1,350m/4,428ft
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, we will greet you at the airport and accompany you to the Hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing.
Meet tour/city guide in hotel and start sightseeing program in Swayambhunath, Durbar Square, Boudhanath and Pashupatinath.
Day 03: Flight to Lukla & Trek to Phakding (3 to 4hrs walks) - 2,652m/8,700ft
After an early morning flight to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft) and final preparations, the trekking starts. From Lukla you'll pass Chaurikharka village and make a descent towards the Dudhkosi Ghat (2,530m/8,300ft). The trail follows the bank of the Dudhkosi River until camp at Phakding is reached. Explore Sherpa village and over night at lodge.
Day 04: Trek to Namche (5 to 6 hrs walk) - 3,440m/11,284ft
The trail crosses Dudhkoshi River over a long suspension bridge and then leads you along the river to Hilary's Suspension Bridge. Then the trail climbs further from here to Namche Bazaar.
Day 05: Acclimatization Day - 3,440m/11,284ft
This is the scheduled 'acclimatization' day. You can spend it taking a day hike to Thame, visiting Khunde or relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar itself. It's the main centre of the Khumbu region and has shops, restaurants, a bakery and a colorful market each Saturday. Over night stay at lodge in Namche.
Day 06: Trek to Tyangboche (5 to 6 hrs walk) - 3,870m/12,694ft
After breakfast in Namche, we start our trek towards Tengboche. Our trek follows on the gradual trail with few short up and downs overlooking magnificent view of the great Himalaya. We enjoy our nice walking till to riverside where we take breathe for lunch. After lunch we start our walking through pine forest for 2 more hours to reach Tyangboche. Tyangboche is a very great place for close up views of Ama-Dablam and it has a biggest Buddhist Monastery all over in Khumbu region. Over night stay at Tyangboche.
Day 07: Trek from Tyangboche to Dingboche (5 to 6 hrs walk) - 4,100m/13,076ft
Today after breakfast we descend for half an hour to river side through the forest, cross the river and make a gradual walk up hill and reach pangboche. After that our final walk to Dingboche is now gradual up mostly and turn on the right towards Chhukung valley for Dingboche. Over night at Dingboche.
Day 08: Trek to Thukla (2 to 3 hrs walk) - 4600m/15,088ft
Today we trek to Thukla from Dingboche which is not tough but do keeps walking gradually up. Thukla is at the bottom of the hill but do still have good views of Cholaste and Lobuche peak. Explore your remaining time at the village and over night at Mt. Lodge. It`s short walking day and give you more time to acclimatize.
Day 09: Thukla to Lobuche (3 to 4 hours) - 4,930m/16,172ft
Right after the breakfast we continue our trek through rocky trails all the way up to the hill and continue leaving memorial areas into the left to Lobuche for overnight.
Day 10: Trek to Gorekshep (3 hrs walk)- 5,160m/16,929ft & Hike to Everest Base Camp (3-4 hours ) - 5,357m/17,575ft
Today we hike slowly for 3 hours through stony & dry hill to reach Gorkeshep. After lunch, we continue hike to Everest Base Camp. This day leads you finally to the Everest Base Camp walking through rocky and glacial trails where climbers gather for summiting Everest. If you get here at the time of climbing season you can explore with lively expedition groups. Evening come back to Gorekshep and over night at lodge.
Day 11: Early hike to Kala Patthar (2-3 hours ) - 5,545m/18,192ft & Trek back to Pangboche (6 to 7 hrs walk) - 3,860m/12,664ft
Early in the morning, we hike up to the Kala Patthar (Black Rock). It takes a couple of hours to walk up to the famous viewing point of Kala Pattar; this small peak offers the best views of Mt. Everest, Pumori and Ama Dablam with colorful Sunrise. Later, we come down to Gorekshep, take breakfast and continue descent retrace back to Pangboche.
Day 12: Trek to Namche (6 to 7 hrs walk) - 3,440m/11,284ft
Today our trail comes all the way down. We cross suspension bridge and take an hour walk up through the forest to reach Tyangboche. From Tyangboche the trail is completely descended till to the riverside, across the river and take a walk up towards a big hill for two hours and will have a nice pleasant walk till to Namche. This is same trail as we used before. Over night at Namche.
Day 13: Trek back to Lukla (6 to 7 hrs walk) -2,800m/9,184ft
Today the trail steeply descends to the Hillary Suspension Bridge and then continues on an easy natural trail. On arrival in Lukla you will have time to relax, stretch those sore legs and celebrate the completion of your trek. Guide will reconfirm your flight ticket and over night at lodge.
Day 14: Tran Himalayan flight back to Kathmandu
After an early morning flight to Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft), you'll head to your hotel. Today is a well-earned day to put up your weary feet and gratefully rediscover all of civilization's perks.
Day 15: Final Departure from Nepal or start next adventure
Today the journey comes to an end. There's nothing to do but trade emails with your new friends, organize all your photos and finally depart from Nepal. We will arrange airport transport for the people who are planning to leave Nepa
